WELCOME TO THE 29TH ANNUAL US OPEN 2009 SAND CASTLE COMPETITION!
This years sand castles were outstanding!
Seacost Dr. & Imperial Beach Blvd. is where all the excitement will be happening!
People from all over the country come and enjoy this competition.
"Foreclosed" on the castle and moving in travel trailers.

"Neptune's Castle" is very whimsical. Great arches that seem to defy gravity. (1st Place, Masters Bby NEW HOPE KIDS)

I don't know what this sand creation was called but it was really beautiful!

What I love is how the competitors use seashells....
....colors and seaweed! So creative!!!
As you pass the competitors sand creations do not miss the creations that some of the people on the beach are creating.
Quite the beautiful endowed Mermaid by ACHILLES.
As you can tell, everyone is enjoying this years sand castle competition.
This young sculptor did an amazing job on this living mermaid!
I think the little mermaid is enjoying herself, also. A lot of people stopped and took a picture of her.
Of course, there is always a Crestacean Section where they are huge.
Including this one! I think this one might be a bug!
